Titanium dissolves in γ iron, to 0.75% in the austenite with carbon content 0.18 - 1.00%, in α iron
solubility amounts to 7% and decreases with increasing temperature. This component has a very high
tendency to create stable carbides. Very small amounts of titanium as an alloy addition in steels,
reduce the carbon content dissolved in austenite. For these reasons, most commonly used as an
alloying addition in stainless steels, acid and heat resistant which prevents corrosion intercrystalline.
